We know the summer holidays have come to an end, but fear not!

The family fun at Broadway Cinema & Theatre continues throughout the year with plenty of unique shows for you and the family. We’ve got performances suitable for all ages of children – and the young at heart if not in body!

The Hunting of the Snark kicks off our family season and we are very excited! On the 4th October, we’ll join the voyage of an improbable crew to hunt an imaginary creature, in a sparkling musical comedy adventure for ages 4+.

Why the Whales Came, showing on the 8th October, is based on the book by Michael Morpurgo, which will be brought to life by multi award-winning storyteller Danyah Miller. It’s a tale for older children of 7+ - the story of Gracie and Daniel who have been forbidden to go near the dangerous Birdman. But after being left on his tiny island, they begin to unravel the Birdman’s secrets… sounds fascinating, and we can’t wait to see how the hugely talented Danyah brings the tale to life.

It will soon be half term, and we’re happy to give you King Arthur to keep everyone amused! Showing on 26th October, this will be a classic tale of bravery, derring-do and adventure, with Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot, Guinevere and all the legendary characters. It’s been reviewed as a ‘masterclass in serious theatre for older children’, and will be a great introduction to drama for children aged 8+.

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the little ones! We have two amazing shows at the end of the year for them to look forward to - starting with Ugly Duckling on 1st November, brought to us by York Theatre Royal and Tutti Frutti Productions, and aimed at kids aged 3+.

And finally, Dear Santa on the 11th- 13th December will be a gorgeous Christmas treat for ages 2+ (the name might ring a bell – it’s written by Rod Campbell, of Dear Zoo). We’ll see Santa trying to get little Sarah the perfect Christmas gift, with help from his elf and the audience of course! Everyone will get to meet Santa, who will be bringing presents for the audience too.

So there’s plenty this season to explore – we love that we can bring so many wonderful children’s shows to Broadway.
