Life Drawing at Broadway Gallery

Thu 28 Nov 2019

6.30pm - 8.30pm

£12

A regular series of life drawing sessions guided by artist Matt Burden. Life drawing - drawings made from the living naked human form - can be an important way for anyone with an artistic impulse to exercise and develop their skills. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, it can contribute to a mindful and relaxed state, reduce anxiety, encourage new perspectives, and improve problem-solving, memory and cognition.

During the session participants will have the opportunity to explore both long and short poses and gain valuable feedback from Matt and the group. All you need to bring is some paper and a pencil or pen, although you may want to consider charcoal, crayons, or pastels for a more expressive approach. If you are thinking of using alternative materials, please do remember to bring a dust sheet. Drawing boards will be provided but feel free to bring an easel if you’d prefer.

About Matt:

Matt Burden exists somewhere in a grey area between illustration, fine art, graphics and moving image. Having gestated in the worlds of underground zines and the music industry he went on to study MA Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2014. One of the common threads throughout all of his various endeavours is a commitment to drawing - and he sees the life room as invaluable. He currently lives and works in Hertfordshire.
