Broadway Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for PHOTO LETCHWORTH a new photography competition and exhibition, open to residents of Letchworth and the surrounding area. The selection panel of Cassie Beadle (Cob Gallery, London), Anstice Oakshott (The Photographers Gallery, London) and photographer Chris Frazer Smith will be choosing 20 finalists whose work will be installed in the main gallery as a supporting exhibition to Cornelia Parker’s One Day This Glass Will Break. The winner of the £500 prize, however, will be chosen by the gallery’s visitors in a public vote.

To enter PHOTO LETCHWORTH please send an entry form to firstname.lastname@example.org along with up to 3 hi-res images (.jpg or .png preferred). Please also include a brief biography and a description of the submitted works. The final date for entries is September 1st, 2019. If your work is selected by our panel then the physical print should be delivered to the gallery by September 8th 2019. The physical work should be no larger than 50 x 70 cm unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with the gallery in advance. The judging panel:
Anstice Oakeshott is Deputy Director of Print Sales, The Photographers Gallery. With a Masters in Art History, Anstice has specialised in photography for over eight years. Previously she managed a private gallery in Cork street, London. She has curated exhibitions for numerous renowned and emerging photographers and estates including Sebastiao Salgado, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Evgenia Arbugaeva and Miho Kajioka,.
Cassie Beadle is curator at Cob Gallery, London. Beadle graduated from The Courtauld Institute of Art in 2006, specialising in early 20th Century Performance and Contemporary Art. In 2012, Beadle joined The Cob Gallery as curator, working closely with the directors to establish and develop the space to specialise as a platform to promote and nurture emerging artistic talent in London. Promoting an idea of close collaboration between artist and gallery, Beadle has been responsible for the development of the Cob Gallery programme, alongside director Victoria Williams and playwright Polly Stenham, as well as initiating international and off site special projects, art fair presentations and events.
Chris Frazer Smith is a photographer, shooting predominately portraiture & people, both commissioned and non- commissioned photography & film, on location and in the studio. Chris has been recognised with numerous international awards from organisations including: The prestigious Lucie International Photographer of The Year Award, The Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize, The BJP Portrait Of Britain, The Association of Photographers, Communication Arts, American Photography, The British Journal of Photography, Campaign Magazine, Creative Review, The Masters Cup, Applied Arts, One Eyeland and Photo District News. His work has been exhibited in galleries around the world including the National Portrait Gallery and The Royal Academy in London. He has been a D&AD judge and continues to mentor & lecture students both on photography and film.
