Peter discovered cinema when he was at Cambridge. He joined the film society in Nottingham when he moved there for his first job, as music librarian. A few years later, he joined the National Film Theatre while working for the BBC in London, where he also enjoyed watching films at independent cinemas all over the city. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Letchworth and found a very small group of people interested in film. They were able to use Plinston Hall and started a film club. Eventually Broadway Cinema offered the film club a home and a more professional setting. Peter was a longstanding member of the committee, and for many years its Chair. Peter’s knowledge and appreciation of film was unsurpassed and as Chair his contribution to the film club is sorely missed. He would be honoured to know this film was being shown in his memory.
