Resident Artist: Gareth Doyle

Letchworth’s Broadway Cinema & Theatre is delighted to have acclaimed artist Gareth Doyle an illustrator and artist based in Hertfordshire, England as our resident artist. His work feels cinematic in both mood and execution.

Creating vibrant digital and traditional artwork with a strong hand-drawn core, each piece begins life as a simple pencil sketch before developing much like a film frame—layered, refined, and brought into focus through acrylics, inks, watercolours, or digital media.

His practice draws heavily on the human form and portraiture, capturing character, emotion, and narrative, and fuses this with a deep love of film, pop culture, and comic book art. Bold colour choices, strong graphic design, and a sense of visual storytelling run through his work, giving each image the presence of a still pulled from a larger story.
